Woodturning 101 / October 22
The project-based course will be focused on turning spindles or bowls from locally harvested green wood. Each student will utilize their own Jet 1840 Lathe and set of tools and chisels. The low teacher-student ratio is ideal for customized and individual instruction and the facilities provide the finest quality tools and equipment in a convenient downtown Mancos location.
As a group and/or individually, we will explore techniques such as preparing, shaping, gouging, sharpening, hollowing, and finishing. Projects might include bowls, platters, lidded boxes, hollow forms, spindles, and symmetrical sculpture.
