Learn the art of blacksmithing as you craft your own custom dinner triangle with a ringer and a beautifully forged shepherd’s hook to hang it from. Using both coal and gas forges, participants will shape hot metal with an anvil and hammer, mastering essential forging techniques. This hands-on class covers shop safety, metal bending (by eye and with forms), effective forging methods for shaping metal, and finishing techniques to enhance your final piece. Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike—come create something both functional and timeless!

About The Instructor:

Steve Williams grew up on a small farm and ranch south Dove Creek Colorado. Steve attended Frank Turley’s Blacksmith School in Sante Fe in 1996. He then went to apprentice at Boone Wrought Iron in Dolores Colorado for 2 years and then apprenticed at Forging Ahead in Durango Colorado for 4 years and apprenticed at Second Circle Forge in Ignacio Colorado off and on. Steve started the Cowboy Forge Blacksmith Shop in 2002 in Mancos Colorado, focusing on custom ironwork in homes in the Four Corners area. In 2010 Steve taught 2 Blacksmith classes at the Mancos Community College and realized he had a passion for teaching the craft, so he opened the Cowboy Forge Blacksmith School LLC in his shop in Mancos and teaches Beginning to advanced classes. Steve is now a Certified ABANA Level II Instructor for blacksmithing.
